How search results are ranked
Search tries to bring the closest matches to the top. The goal is to show listings that look like the best fit for what someone searched, while keeping the order clear and useful.
Card details first
The actual item details usually matter most, especially card names, sets, and other structured information that clearly identifies the listing.
Titles still help
A clear title and useful extra details can improve the order, but they do not outweigh a stronger item match.
Sorting can take over
If a buyer switches to price or seller rating, that sort decides the final order of the matching listings.
Featured listings exist
Some sellers can buy extra visibility for a listing. Featured listings can appear more prominently in search and other discovery areas.
How results are matched
Search starts with the details that best identify the item. That means the item name and other structured listing details usually do the most work when deciding what belongs near the top.
After that, titles and extra listing details help refine the order. Clear information makes it easier to understand what the listing is and who it is for.
- Card names, set names, and other item details are strong signals.
- Titles can help when they clearly match the search.
- Extra details like condition, language, rarity, and description can improve the ordering.
- If results look very close, a more recently active listing may appear first.
What changes the order
The default goal is to show the best match first. But when someone chooses a different sort, that sort controls the final order of the matching results.
- Price low to high sorts matching listings by lower price first.
- Price high to low sorts matching listings by higher price first.
- Seller rating sorts matching listings by seller rating.
- Search still works to find relevant results before the chosen sort is applied.
Featured visibility
Featured listings are paid placements. Sellers can buy extra visibility for a listing, which can help it appear more prominently in search results and other parts of the marketplace.
Even with Featured listings, search and filtering still matter. The system still uses the search, filters, and chosen sort to decide which listings are shown and how they are ordered.
- Featured listings are promoted placements.
- We should make it clear when extra visibility has been purchased.
- Strong item details still help search understand what the listing is about.
